Kelpe is the recording alias of London-based electronic artist and producer Kel McKeown. Discovered by cult label DC Recordings in 2003, he released an impressive discography of fractured hip hop beats and warped electronics, inspired by electronica acts like Prefuse 73, Boards of Canada, and artists on the Warp label. After the demise of DC in 2009 he continued to release with underground labels including Black Acre and Svetlana until eventually launching his own DRUT imprint in 2013. Kelpe has remained an enormously respected stalwart of the fringes, dabbling variously in sample-heavy beatcraft, dancefloor-ready club grub, and synth and piano pieces. As the second in a series of explorative electronic recordings, Polymar Two will be released on DRUT on May 18th.
